Leadership Debate. Just bring your own Leader.

I don't get this. The three protagonists can be seen and heard on live Parliamentary broadcasts most any day. So what will we learn from a staged debate where we are more interested in Messrs Brown Cameron & Clegg fluffing their lines, sweating profusely and stumbling on entry than anything they will actually say.  The simple truth, which these guys do not yet grasp is, we are all so disgusted with politicians and bored with politics the prospect is as about exciting as painting a wet fence. 

   What a waste of prime time TV.

Abreviations What is the Point If no one Knows WTH They Mean.

Abbreviations have started to really really annoy me. It is because they seem to have overtaken normal speech but  still require an explanation for any one to understand. This of course defeats the purpose of abbreviating anything in the first place. It is particularly noticeable on TV/& Radio news,you know the type of thing "The IOC (International Olympic Committee said today" or  "The CBI (Confederation of British Industry) have released figures" Now I admit some require no explanation like FBI, CIA,  etc.  but as for almost everything else they should simply use the full description or name and let that be it.  You will also notice people using workplace abbreviations to make them look smarter than they really are however, if you are lucky or quick  you can dream  up something ridiculous to fit their stupid abbreviation and thus force them to explain fully what the abbreviation means. If you are confused by all of this this site can help  in the meantime shun the abbreviators , you know it makes sense.  By the way my personal  most annoying one is BOGOF  from the retail sector but they are every where. If you know any real unusual or stupid ones please share them with us and tell us where you found them.   

Winter Olympics: amazing.

I am not a big sports fan .  I do like watching on T.V. but I get grumpy at the football fanatics  who seem to think soccer is the only game in town.  I have just watched the Canada/U S A Ice Hockey  game from Vancouver and it was truly amazing. After watching the excitement and speed and skill of the game it is obvious nothing comes close to this for thrills and skill. I also watched some of the specialist ski and snow-board events and these people are either incredibly stupid or incredibly brave,either way they do stuff that just leaves me saying "how do they do that".In a world where war and hunger and injustice are rife it is encouraging to see nations competing in honest competition and following a principle where it is all important to take part.  Some of our over paid football players should take note. And how do you get the message to the terrorists of the world ?   

John Lennon In T.V. Ad For ...Citroen? A Misatake on All Levels.

On the same day Abbey Road Studios is awarded listed building status, John Lennon is reduced to a badly made T.V. ad for Citroen cars. Meant to be a message of free choice and "do your own thing" the "retro" piece of marketing just looks awful.  The rumour mill suggests Yoko held out for the right deal but Lennon fans are angered by what is seen by many as pure greed. I hate these things where dead people are used to sell stuff on T.V.   As fans condemn Yoko Ono and call for a boycott of Citroen products it does make you wonder what Lennon himself would have said?  I guess his reaction would be unprintable ....and he wouldn't be seen in a Citroen either.

   Shame on you Yoko Ono.    Unforgivable.   

Cheryl & Ashley Cole deserve each other, and as for Vernon Kay...

It really is tragic to watch the so-called Top Celebrities make fools of themselves as they contrive to justify their bad behavior. Cheryl Cole has put on more brave faces than you can imagine, but how much more embarrassment can she take. She has worked hard to shed her past (fighting in toilets is hardly classy), but Ashley just keeps dragging her down there with him. His latest escapade is just farcical. I mean, who lends their phone,complete with nude pictures of themselves to a mate?  It is a bit strange to have the photos on the phone in the first place, the mate must have been surprised to find them there but decided to send them to a few girls anyway just to embarrass Ashley: some mate he turned out to be.

Cheryl sings she will fight for this love but it looks like it's her husband that needs a punch in the head although it is clearly not his head that motivated him. Tess Daly  also made a declaration of love days before husband Vernon Kay was caught out, also by a mobile phone sex text revelation. Kay ran away from the press pack and climbed fences in a humiliating display as he tried to sneak into his own home.  When will they ever learn, the guys always get caught out, the wives always seem to put up with the repeated humiliation.  In other words they deserve each other.  

From Tiger Woods To John Terry and Ashley Cole to Vernon Kay these guys never seem to realise the value of the wives they already have in their lives.   Public shame is no cure for stupidity,  stupidity is no excuse for causing  pain to those you love.  As you may expect Cheryl & Tess remain silent........so far.  

Creepy Babies Yes Creepy Babies.The Latest Marketing Tool.

They really freak me out they are so CREEPY. I remember the first time I was spooked by the creepy baby syndrome. It was a movie with a talking baby,pre CGI it looked like they has super imposed an adult talking mouth onto the baby head and it just looked weird. Just like Mr Ed the talking horse it didn't quite work. The one I hate right now has babies in a sort of skate board skate off and they sing and dance through a routine selling us bottled water you know the one filtered for thousands of years.  What I really really hate though is the ones where you only hear the baby voice but it is delivering an adult message.  The one I heard is for Mile Ready for Sports Relief a worthy cause no doubt but the baby voice makes me cringe.  Lastly there is the one where the baby is the boss of a toilet tissue company it annoys me greatly. I am sure there are lots more out there so let us know your best or worst one? My money is on the skateboard kids,  they head the creep factor stakes so far.

3-D MOVIES AND THE COST OF POPCORN ?

We used to go to the movies at least once a week, often twice. Not so much recently, but we love the whole deal you get in new theaters: big comfy seats, full surround sound and ultra-modern facilities - fantastic.

Then...you decide to buy some snacks: pop-corn maybe, something to drink, a hot dog even.  Suddenly you realise what pays for the multi screen movie theater experience:  IT'S THE FOOD.   We had a couple of hot dogs a couple of small drinks and a thimble of ice cream  £17.95 ( $30).  This turns your movie experience into a slightly resentful one where you talk about a hot dog costing almost as much as your seat did rather than the movie. In old style cinemas they sold branded chocolate and sweets you could buy anywhere so the price was the same. It did not make any sense to bring your own,  but at these exorbitant prices it was not surprising to see people smuggling in their own sweets and cans of  soda.

The movie, Avatar,  was exceptional - a 3D  mind blower of a film and highly recommended. Just take your own sweets. 

Chris Evans will win over the Wogans Old Geezers.

He had a hard act to follow butChris Evans seems to have delighted the millions listening. He did have a secret weapon in the iconic Moira Stewart  who many felt was done badly by the BBC when they dropped her on the age issue.  I am pleased for Chris Evans as he was a most irritating young guy who was either loved or hated, depending on your age. He was an innovator and I am sure he will make the breakfast show his very own.  At 71 years young it was time for Wogan to call it a day. The fact he opened the show with Two BEATLES classics won me over instantly so good on you Chris  it was all good.

Ross. Was he pushed or did he jump.

Here is how I see it. Brand did the right thing and resigned,Ross hedged his bets and hung on in there because the BBC gave him a face saving opportunity of a suspension, a return to the limelight and, after a "decent" time he leaves of his own accord.  In real terms he was booted out  and I think it is a good time for a real change  in the "chat show"  format.  Lets face it no one has ever been able to touch Parkinson and the likes of Graham Norton doesn't cut it either.  What would you like to see in the Friday Night Slot?   Whatever they come up with I am willing to bet that a few months from now we will be wondering why we thought we would miss him.  

Pete Doherty. It Really Is Time To End This Farce.

O.K. we have visited here before,many many times. It is now becoming a total farce as Pete Doherty is re-arrested as he leaves court on his umpteenth drugs/driving charge. How long can this go on? It is time to remove Pete from public life and get him sorted out or lock him up any thing but this dance through the courts.  I mean 21 previous convictions must tell someone its time to try something else in Pete's case.
