Right, we are just not convinced by this latest bit of stereotyping. Chip fat being used as a tanning oil may be not as daft as it first sounds. I can remember going to Spain in the 60's & 70's and all of the tanning products available then were oils of one kind or another. These simply helped cook or fry your skin to a nice "crisp mahogany" tan. Scots however only need a few degrees above freezing to turn the skin from pale blue to pink.....so the chip fat story seems a bit of a leg pull.
So the task here is to prove or dispel the story. If you do use chip fat for tanning oil tell us about it,or if you know someone who does let us know . Or... if you know someone who knows someone who knows some one who.............
