It is incredible that every time we see an ex politician publish his/her memoirs there is a stunning revelation to entice us all to rush out and buy it before it hits the clearance bins. John Prescott who famously punched a protester,"confesses" he was bulimic. Cherie Blair confesses to anything for a few quid. Edwina Currie to an affair with John Major(how brave)(both of them). Why are we even remotely interested in this twaddle and trash. Is it because it makes the great and the powerful seem more like us?
Are images like these really how we want to see our political leaders? Lord Levy is another one currently touting a book and he is doing the rounds of T.V. & radio telling us how publishers begged him to" write it all down because people will be interested". Do they really need the money? Do they just want the publicity? I do not know, what I do know is we never really get the ones we want like..... Tony Blair what I really think of Gordon Brown. Maybe in a book store soon???
