Dad of 36 "Fake Children" Claims £80K Benefits
In the big bad world of benefit fraud this must be top ten material.
An Aberdeen man claimed just under £80k for 36 yes 36 fictitious children over three years. (reported in the press 23.04.08) How on earth did this happen I HEAR YOU CRY.
The Inland Revenue failed to ask for any birth certificates ...thats how it happened.
The unemployed father of two just added names to his claim for child tax credit and nobody ever asked him for proof of any kind. The fact that he is only 30 years of age was a big clue but this too escaped attention.
Another unfortunate oversight... a non-apparent loophole...a genuine unintentional mistake...no... just glaring incompetence and bad practice by another Government Agency....The Inland Revenue. What other mistakes have they made ...check your tax code.....soon.
